Collection: Misono Vineyard
"To become interesting"
Discover the exquisite Misono vineyard, nestled in the serene surroundings opposite the renowned Nobori town. Boasting unique stoney soil rich in limestone, this vineyard benefits from its proximity to the ocean, which ensures more moderate and consistent temperatures. As a result, grapes ripen slightly faster, leading to an earlier ripening season.
Matsumura, a devoted aficionado of Burgundy wines whose passion drove him to establish a wine haven in Tokyo named Burgundy. Deepening his love for wine, he ventured into winemaking and honed his craft in Nagano's Chikumagawa wine academy before fate guided him to a vineyard in Yoichi, Hokkaido. The vineyard's limestone-rich soil reminiscent of Burgundy inspired Matsumura to relocate from Tokyo to Hokkaido, where he now creates wines that pay homage to the Burgundian tradition.
Matsumura's winemaking philosophy is deeply rooted in Burgundy, blending traditional techniques with modern practices to craft wines that are both elegant and expressive. By embracing methods that minimize oxygen exposure, he ensures that his wines retain a vibrant freshness. He humbly says that his wine's are not yet interesting, and vows to become interesting.
His Vitis Labrusca vines are from the previous owner, who grew them with much care throughout the years. They are approximately 50 years old, which results in a very rich and sweet aroma.
